About
A diabetes knowledge hub, not a niche anecdote blog
The Diabetic Dose is built to be a useful place for type 1 diabetes knowledge: practical day-to-day systems, plain-language education, and professional-grade news you can actually follow. Lived experience sits inside that bigger picture. It is not the whole picture.
Who is behind this
Anonymous physician. Living with type 1 diabetes for about thirty years. Writing as someone who has sat on both sides of the exam room table, and who still has to pack the bag, change the site, and deal with the overnight number that will not move.
No real name on the brand. No clinic marketing. No attempt to practice medicine through a website.
What this site is for
People with T1D, caregivers, and curious clinicians who want one clean place to learn, scan, and come back to. That includes:
- Practical knowledge : travel, overnight patterns, backups, mental load, and the logistics that textbooks skip
- Foundational education : clear explainers on information, software, hardware, and what is actually new
- Professional and policy news : approvals, research, screening, access, and industry movement, sourced and summarized
- Tools you can use : checklists and frameworks you can adapt with your own care team
What you will find here
Blog
Lived-experience writing that still aims to teach: patterns, packing, and the MD brain vs patient brain tension.
Information
Core education hubs. Start here when you want the map, not just one story.
News
Weekly-style digests of research, policy, and care news with links out and a short “why it matters.”
What's New
Tech and product movement in diabetes care, framed as categories and context, not hype.
Software
CGM, pump, and data software as systems. What they do, where people get stuck, what to ask about.
Hardware
Devices and backups: the physical stack that keeps a day (and a trip) from falling apart.
Resources
Pointers outward: organizations, reading, and reference material worth keeping bookmarked.
Free checklist
A practical starter pack for travel and backups. Education only. Adapt it with your care team.
How we write
- Human tone. No AI-sounding filler. No fake certainty.
- Health and science claims get sourced before they go up.
- Lived experience comes from real answers, not invented “relatable” stories.
- Travel kits and overnight highs matter. So do screening guidance, access policy, and device categories.
What we will not do
- Prescribe doses, targets, or device settings
- Create a doctor-patient relationship through this site
- Publish unverified medical claims or rumor-as-news
- Put a personal name or identifiable clinic stories on the brand
- Pretend one person’s pack list is the whole field of diabetes knowledge
Who this is for
If you want clear language, useful systems, and a steady stream of what is happening in T1D care without shame spirals or influencer noise, you are in the right place. Bring your care team for decisions. Use this site for orientation, vocabulary, and better questions.
